Cuprates phase diagram deduced from magnetic susceptibility: What is the ‘true’ pseudogap line?

چکیده

Two contradictory phase diagrams have dominated the literature of high-Tc cuprate superconductors. Does pseudogap line cross superconducting Tc-dome or not? To answer, we revisited experimental magnetic susceptibility and knight shift four different compounds, La1−xSrxCuO4, Bi2Sr2Ca1−xYxCu2O8, Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+y, YBa2Cu3O6+y, as a function temperature doping. The can be described by same for all materials, having an electronic contributions. former is 2D antiferromagnetic (AF) square lattice response, with characteristic correlations Tmax. latter ‘Pauli’ term, revealing gap opening in density states at T∗. From precise fits data, find that Tmax(p) decreases linearly doping (p) over wide range, but saturates abruptly overdoped regime. Concomitantly, T∗(p) linear tangent to dome, either crossing approaching top indicating qualitative change behavior from underdoped regimes. Contrary idea terminates just above optimal doping, our analysis suggests exists throughout diagram. It consistent due hole pairs, ‘pairons’, Tc. We conclude Tmax, reflecting AF correlations, has often been misinterpreted

Pseudogap Phenomena in the Superconducting Phase of the Cuprates

The presence of a normal state spectral (pseudo) gap at the superconducting transition temperature in the underdoped cuprates has important implications for the associated superconducting phase. We argue that this normal state pseudogap derives from pairing fluctuations, which necessarily persist below and which have important implications on the superconducting state. Our Greens function appro...

Quantum criticality and the phase diagram of the cuprates

I discuss a proposed phase diagram of the cuprate superconductors as a function of temperature, carrier concentration, and a strong magnetic field perpendicular to the layers. I show how the phase diagram gives a unified interpretation of a number of recent experiments. Keynote talk, 9th International Conference on Materials and Mechanisms of Superconductivity, Tokyo, Sep 7-12, 2009.

Pseudogap and Competing States in Underdoped Cuprates

I shall argue that the high Tc problem is the problem of doping into a Mott insulator. Furthermore, the well documented pseudo-gap phenomenon in underdoped cuprates holds the key to understanding this physics. Phase fluctuation alone cannot explain this phenomenon, but there is a clear need to identify a competing state which lives in the vortex core. The staggered flux state is a good candidat...

Weak phase separation and the pseudogap in the electron-doped cuprates

– We study the quantum transition from an antiferromagnet to a superconductor in a model for electronand hole-doped cuprates by means of a variational cluster perturbation theory approach. In both cases, our results suggest a tendency towards phase separation between a mixed antiferromagnetic-superconducting phase at low doping and a pure superconducting phase at larger doping. However, in the ...
